O son of Adam, when you are born, the Athaan is recited on your ears [but no Salaah is offered], and when you die, Salaah is prayed for you but no Athaan is recited. It is as if your whole life is the time between the Athaan [recited when you are born] and the Salaah [offered when you die].
It is as if your whole life is that time in between. Woe to you who waste such a short time in disobedience to Allaah, woe to you!
